This Fender Custom Shop 1959 Strat Heavy Relic Stratocaster Electric Guitar has been given a Heavy Relic finish treatment and features an alder body with a thin nitrocellulose finish and single-ply parchment pickguard.  1959 was a transition year for the Fender Strat as the slab rosewood fretboards were introduced.  Also towards the end of 1959 the 3 Ply Pickguards were introduced but some of the Mid-1959 Strats featured the rare 8 hold 1-Ply Parchment pickguard.  This Fender Custom Shop '59 Relic Strat celebrates that guitar. The guitar neck features a dark Indian rosewood fingerboard with an early '60s "C" neck shape and a 9.5"-radius fingerboard with 6105 frets. Three Custom Shop Fat '50s pickups, five-way switch, vintage hardware, and a bone nut give this beauty authentic looks and feel.

This Fender Strat guitar includes brown tolex hardshell case (with a gold crushed velvet interior), strap, cable, polishing cloth, and Certificate of Authenticity. Fender Relic Stratocaster guitar is super worn-in, like your favorite pair of jeans. This special Fender Custom Shop treatment replicates the natural wear and tear an electric guitar gets from years of heavy use€”nicks, scratches, worn finish, rusty hardware and aged plastic parts. Fender's Time Machine series of instruments pay homage to specific years of some of our classic guitar designs.

All are built to exacting specifications of their respective vintages, including body contours and radii, neck shape, fingerboard radius, pickups and electronics. Original materials, tooling and production techniques are employed wherever possible to maintain the integrity of these Fender electric guitars. This is part of the Fender Custom Shop's 2010 Time Machine Series. It is the real deal. Almost like it came right out of Mr. Peabody's Wayback Machine.

Highlights
This Fender Custom Shop Strat boasts an alder body with a lacquer finish. The tinted 1-piece quartersawn maple neck is wrapped with a polyurethane finish and sports a "V" shape. The single-ply pickguard and 3-way pickup switch with three single-coil pickups.

Heavy Relic Treatment - What's the deal???
As a member of the Fender Custom Shop Time Machine Series, this Tele is treated with the Heavy Relic treatment. This means the instrument is finished to resemble an instrument that has enjoyed a long life of heavy use. This includes significant wear and tear to the finish, dings & nicks to the body, neck, and headstock, and aged hardware. The end result is an instrument that looks like it's been around for a while and plays like a broken-in instrument.  After playing one of the Heavy Relic Time Machine Strats there is no other way to go.  Just like your favorite old pair of jeans it just feels right.
