Fender Custom Shop LTD Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic Stratocaster Guitar
This is a Fender Custom Shop LTD Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic Stratocaster Guitar. This guitar is part of a Limited Edition Run of guitars. From its quartersawn roasted maple neck to its Dual-Mag pickups and custom wiring, the Fender Custom Shop Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic surpasses all expectations for how a Strat should look, feel, and sound. One of a very limited edition, the guitar wears a relic finish that makes it look a half-century old, but it sports a supremely playable '60s-style "Oval C" neck profile with the finish worn off and AAA-grade rosewood fingerboard with a modern 9.5"–12" compound-radius and Jescar FW57110 jumbo frets. Other features include a Master Greasebucket tone control, Strat Blender circuit, bone nut, vintage-style tuning machines, and a 3-ply black pickguard. In short, the Fender Custom Shop Black Roasted Dual-Mag Strat Relic sings with the best of them, with undeniably alluring looks. This is one very special solidbody electric. Loaded with a trio of hand-wound Custom Shop Dual-Mag Strat pickups, this guitar delivers all the legendary spank 'n' sparkle of an original golden-age Stratocaster. From chimey, glassy cleans to chunky grind, these pickups deliver it all, with outstanding touch sensitivity and dynamic response. The middle pickup is reverse-wound/reverse-polarity for hum-canceling operation in switch positions 2 and 4. The Dual Magnet Pickups feature Alnico V Magnets on the bass strings for that punchy Strat tone and Alnico II Magnets for the treble strings for the classic glassy shimmering tone Strats are known for.
The Dual-Mag Relic also features custom wiring with Fender's Greasebucket tone circuit, so you can smoothly roll off highs without reducing gain or encountering potentiometer "hot spots." It's also the perfect way to get the best out of the bridge position without excessive harshness. And this Strat also features a blender circuit on the second tone knob. It allows you to blend in the bridge pickup with the neck pickup, or vice versa. It'll also blend in the unused pickup in positions 2 and 4 — Strat players at Sweetwater love the added sonic range the blender circuit offers.
Fender Custom Shop's Relic treatment creates instruments that are spittin' images of the originals. Without sneaking a look at the neck heel stamps, you'd be hard-pressed to distinguish the Dual-Mag Relic Strat from a '60s original. But your hands will immediately notice a more inviting, modern feel. The rosewood fretboard features a 9.5"–12" compound-radius for better transitions between rhythm and lead playing. And the Jescar FW57110 jumbo fret wire offers more fretting area and smoother bends than the originals' narrow fret wire.
Relic Treatment - What's the deal???
As a member of the Fender Custom Shop Time Machine Series, this Strat is treated with the Relic treatment. This means the instrument is finished to resemble an instrument that has enjoyed a long life of heavy use. This includes moderate wear and tear to the finish, dings to the body, neck, and headstock, and aged hardware. The end result is an instrument that looks like it's been around for a while and plays like a broken-in instrument. After playing one of the Relic Time Machine Strats there is no other way to go. Just like your favorite old pair of jeans it just feels right.
