This is a Fender Custom Shop NAMM Strat '62 Heavy Relic Stratocaster Teal Green Metallic Over Black. This guitar was actually featured at the 2015 NAMM Show. It was 1 of 10 '62 Relic Strats with Color-Over-Color Nitro finish guitars. This was the only Teal Green Metallic Over Black Strat. It comes with a NAMM COA (Certificate of Authenticity) too to prove it to all of your friends. If you aren't lucky enough to own an original '62 Strat then this Fender Custom Shop Heavy Relic Strat is the next best thing. And this one has been given the two finish treatment to mimic a 1962 Strat that had actually been refinished and then had "the hell" played out of it so that the original finish shows through the newer finish. Fender goes to great legnths and painstaking detail to recreate authentic time period instruments. So in remaining true to goal Feder made this guitar a late 1962 model strat featuring the  round-lam board also known as the "veneer board". Here is the backstory. 1959 was a year of marked change for the Fender Stratocater. From 1959 until summer 1962 the fingerboard of the Strat was a piece of rosewood milled flat on the underside and glued to the maple. This has become known as a "slab fingerboard". In the summer of 1962 Fender switched to a piece of rosewood that had been milled with a curve to increase the stability of the necks and reduce warpage. These necks became known as the "round-laminate" "round-lam" for short or also the "veneer board". And thanks to this effort this guitar sounds like an original! Hold the '62 Heavy Relic Strat, and you'll love the feel of its thin Mid 60's oval C neck shape.  Its lightweight alder body is comfortable and very resonant. Highlights
This Fender Custom Shop Strat boasts an alder body with a lacquer finish with Dakota Red over Black finish. The tinted 1-piece quartersawn maple neck with the finish worn off is incredibly comfortable to play. The Fretboard is a Dark Indian Rosewood Round-Lam board with a 9.5" Radius featuring a bone nut. The pickups are Handwound Fat 60's Pickups single-coil pickups with the 3-ply Mint Green Pickguard and 5-way pickup switch. The wiring is Vintage Modified Wiring which has 1 Volume, Tone #1 controls the middle and neck pickup while Tone #2 controls the bridge pickup. This guitar is a player.
