This is a Fender Prototype Strat American Design Deluxe Select Stratocaster HSS Guitar. This is an extremely rare guitar and a collectors piece. It is a one-of-a-kind. Fender in its 60+ year history has never sold a prototype guitar...until now. Fender had a summer dealer appreciation event where they made available a limited number of prototypes to their top dealers. This is one of the ones we picked up. "Prototype" is stamped on the back of the headstock under the serial number as pictured. This particular Fender Strat was a prototype for Fender Select HSS Stratocaster when Fender was trying out different finishes and woods for the Select Series which debuted this year. This is a Black Cherry Stain with a Gloss Lacquer finish. However the guts of this guitar is the Fender American Deluxe HSS Strat. The guitar comes with a Certificate Of Authenticity stating it is a prototype too. So this is a guitar you want to keep and stash away. 20 years from now it will probably be worth a small fortune. If you are a strat lover this guitar is a must-have. Its modern C shaped maple neck has a comfortable contoured heel, S-1 Switching and the push/push Passing Lane Switch that when Engaged it puts the bridge pickup on no matter how the toggle switch or S-1 Switch is set. The smooth-playing compound radius rosewood fretboard (9.5-14) has 22 medium jumbo frets, stylish white pearloid position inlays. The pickups are a Fender Atomic Humbucking Pickup & the Fender Stratocaster N3 single-coil neck & middle pickups with five-way switching and a no-load tone control that delivers the natural uncolored sound of the bridge pickup when on 10.
